Abstract
Herlita Palloan 2024. Using the ELSA (English Language Speech Assistant) Application As an Independent Learning Tool in Improving Students’ English Pronunciation at SMAN 5 Tana Toraja ( supervised by Dr. Charlie Ba’ka, M.Pd and Elim Trika Sudarsi, S.Pd.,M.Pd ).
This thesis focused on English Language Teaching using ELSA (English Language Speech Assistant) application in improving English pronunciation at SMAN 5 Tana Toraja. The formulation of the problem study: Does the using the ELSA application as an independent learning tool significantly improve students'
English pronunciation at SMAN 5 Tana Toraja? The purpose of this study is to investigate and assess the significance of ELSA (English Language Speech Assistant) application as an independent learning tool in improving students' English pronunciation at SMAN 5 Tana Toraja. This thesis applied a pre-experimental method. The researcher obtained the score using a test, namely a pre-test and a post-test. The population of this study was students of class XII Language and Culture Science of SMAN 5 Tana Toraja. The sample was taken by using total sampling. The number of samples
was 27 students. The results of the study showed that there was significant difference in the pre-test and post-test after using this application. The result of the data analysis which gathered from SPSS 25, showed that to (tcount =14.565) was greater than tt (ttable = 2.056) or to > tt
. So that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the
alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. It was concluded that the ELSA (English Language Speech Assistant) application as an independent learning tool significantly improve students' English pronunciation at SMAN 5 Tana Toraja.
