MEMBUKA DUNIA BAGI PENYANDANG TUNARUNGU: REVOLUSI SISTEM TRANSKRIPSI SUARA

The obstacles and challenges of studying in higher education for people with special needs are definitely
greater than the difficulties faced by regular students. Thus, innovation is needed to accommodate the
learning needs of people with special needs in higher education. One of the people with special needs
who have the right to access education in tertiary institutions is the deaf, whether in the mild to severe
category, classified as hard of hearing or hard of hearing. Some deaf people are registered as active
students at UKI Toraja who are deaf people in the mild category (hard of hearing). Still, it does not rule
out the possibility that in the following academic years, UKI Toraja will accept deaf people in the severe
category (deafness). In this case, a learning innovation and assistive technology (assistive technology) for
students with special needs in higher education in the form of assistive technology in the form of
"development of assistive devices for deaf people at UKI Toraja", assistive technology (assistive
technology) which we propose as a form of commitment to realizing inclusive services for students with
severe hearing impairment (deaf) at UKI Toraja in the future which can improve independent living skills
for people with severe hearing impairment (deaf) in mobility.
