Abstract

Creating effective teaching and learning activities is the duty and obligation
of the teacher. One of the factors that is often used as a benchmark for
the success of education is to see the success of the teaching-learning process in
achieving its goals. Choosing the right learning model will have a positive impact
on student learning outcomes. The learning model is a particular learning process
approach, including its goals, steps, and management system. The purpose of this
study is to improve student learning outcomes by using the Meaningful Learning
model. This research is classroom action research and was conducted in two
cycles, each cycle consisting of six meetings. The subjects of the study were 20
fifth grade students of the State Elementary School 145 Randanan, Tana Toraja,
7 male students and 13 female students. Data collection is done by observation,
interviews, documentation and tests. The activity process consists of planning,
implementation, observation and reflection stages. Data on student learning outcomes
were obtained from the testing activities of cycle I and cycle II. In the first
cycle, the presentation of the results of learning abilities that did not meet the
requirements had not reached the expected success aspect, so that the results of
students’ learning abilities who met the requirements were used to run the second
cycle. Based on the findings in two cycles, it is concluded that the application of
the Meaningful Learning model can improve the learning outcomes of fifth grade
students of the State Elementary School 145 Randanan, Tana Toraja.
